Angel Park Golf Club is a three-star, public, daily fee golf course located about 15 minutes away from the famed Las Vegas strip. Designed by golf’s elite, Arnold Palmer, Ed Seay and Bob Cupp, the club boasts a country style atmosphere and a high quality of service that golfers would expect from a private club. The Mediterranean-style clubhouse, with views of cascading waterfalls and blue ponds, was designed for additional entertainment and casual dining. The club has made enhancements over the years due to competitors, such as the Badlands , TPC the Canyons, and TPC Summerlin, opening in the area. However, the club still attracts a mixture of tourists and locals.
Angel Park bills itself as "the world's most complete golf experience." The club features two championship courses, Palm and Mountain; a lighted par-three course, Cloud Nine; the world’s original natural grass putting course, Seventh Heaven; and a lighted driving range.
Opened in 1989, the par-70 Palm Course measures 6,525 yards from the back tees with a rating/slope of 70.9/129. Although it’s the shorter of the two courses, it requires more forced carries off the tee boxes. The par-3s are also longer than on the Mountain Course. Three par-3s measure 200 yards or more while the shortest is the 175-yard eighth hole. The 220-yard 12th hole, which is the longest par 3, plays over desert to a green fronted by both sand and grass bunkers and is surrounded by two large boulders. The three par-5s all measure less than 550 yards. The 525-yard No. 6 is rated the most difficult hole on the course. The 10 par-4s offer a full range. Six play less than 385 yards while four measure more than 400 yards. With its green surrounded by bunkers, the 459-yard 10th hole is considered one of the course's toughest holes. The Palm Course was remodeled in 1993 to make room for the Cloud Nine course.
The Mountain Course was designed in 1990 for golfers seeking more of a challenge. This advanced course takes golfers into a Red Rock Mountain type of atmosphere and through desert terrain-like areas. The par-71 course measures 6,722 yards from the back tees, with a rating/slope of 72.4/128. The Mountain course features fewer forced tee carries than the Palm, in addition to greens and shorter par 3s. However, the longer par 4s, tighter par 5’s, and prominent elevation changes make the course the most demanding of the two. The first hole is a 433-yard dogleg right. Although the fairway is wide, the large bunker right can affect tee shots cutting off the corner. The 509-yard, par-5 second hole is rated the most difficult on the course. The slight dogleg right with a fairway bunker right includes water features. The 11 par-4s, except for the 320-yard third hole, are medium to long. The redesigned dogleg left, 425-yard ninth is another challenging hole. Features include water left from tee to the green, a long fairway bunker right, and a fairway that narrows tightly toward the green.
The Cloud Nine short course gives golfers a chance to experience 12 of the most famous and challenging golf holes in the world. Example replica par-3 holes that give even the pros a hard time include, "The Postage Stamp" hole from Royal Troon, the "Valley of Sin" from St. Andrews, and the popular "Island Green" replica from TPC at Sawgrass. An added touch is that nine of the 12 holes are lighted for evening play making Cloud Nine a popular nighttime retreat for golfers.
Angel Park is also home to the world’s first natural grass, 18-hole, lighted putting course. Seventh Heaven, with its strategically placed bunkers, rock outcroppings, and water hazards, make the Gary Panks-designed putting course ideal for enhancing your putting stroke. The course has all par-2s and par-3s with holes ranging from 50 feet to 180 feet. The most difficult task is not playing the distance but playing the break and avoiding the sand.
