Vegas Golfer
magazine voted Boulder City Golf Course, "the
best bargain course in southern Nevada" three years in a row and presented it with the Vegas Golfer Fairway Award. Once a year, the course plays host to the Boulder City Open and the Boulder City Invitational, and this year it hosted the US Golf Teachers' Federation.
The 18-hole golf course is situated amongst three mountain ranges and lies adjacent to the renowned Hoover Dam. Designed by golf course architects Billy Casper and David Rainville in 1973, the 6,600 yard, par 72 layout is surrounded by native plants, abundant treescapes and several water features.
The traditional layout includes hundreds of mature trees, open fairways, large greens, and water features on 7 holes. The player-friendly, par 72 course measures 6,600 yards from the back trees and has a slope of 117 for men and 123 for women. The back nine has recently been enhanced to include streams that meander in from the twelfth green and along the fairways of the thirteenth and fourteenth holes. The 'blue' tee, at 6561 yards, is rated 702 with a slope of 110; 'white,' at 6132 yards, is rated 68.3 with a slope of 103; and 'red' or 'ladies' at 5566 yards, is rated 70.7 with a slope of 113.
The walkable course rounds are usually played in 4 1/2 hours or less.
Maintained by Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department, the course's greens and fairways are plush and well-manicured, comparable to elite courses. As Murray Anderson of Golf Publisher assessed, the course "in this small Southern Nevada town outside Las Vegas is ready to go toe-to-toe with some of 'Sin City's' heavyweight golf courses."

Golfers at golfcourse.com gave this course (on a scale from one to five, with five being the highest) a 4.1 for conditions, a 3.5 for pace, a 3.3 for service, a 4.4 for value, and a 4 overall score. Of the sixteen anonymous reviewers, one declared "it used to be a hidden gem."
Golfers can improve their game by visiting Boulder City's full practice facility. Features include putting and chipping greens and a full driving range with both grass and mats. Future improvements include an additional chipping green, four more putting greens, and a lighted par-3 course. For extra attention, PGA golfing lessons are provided by the experienced Pro Shop staff.
Boulder City's spacious and inviting 5,000 square foot clubhouse features a fully stocked Pro Shop, Bar and Grill, and banquet accommodations. Open from dawn to dusk, golfers and visitors can visit the clubhouse for all of their golfing needs, including daily servings of breakfast and lunch.
It is host to the Boulder City Open. Located 30 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip, the Course provides a pleasurable experience with views of the Eldorado Valley.
