Course Review:

Designed by Rees Jones and opened in 2000, the gated Cascata has quickly become known as one of the world’s most luxurious private courses. The convenient location, 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, as well as the unmatched service that guests receive amplifies the Cascata experience. Appropriately named “waterfall” in Italian, the $60 million dollar property boasts a 418-foot waterfall that prominently flows throughout the property. It’s no wonder the exclusive club has attracted world-wide visitors and won numerous awards for its service and design.

The experience begins as soon as you arrive at Cascata, where an attendant is waiting to take your car to the parking area. Your shoes, shined and re-cleated, are sitting in front of a locker that has your name affixed to it. After an elegant breakfast in the 37,000 square foot clubhouse, your clubs will be awaiting you on the back of a cart.

The par-72 course features vistas at every turn, including the 3,600-foot peak at Red Mountain , fairways, lakes, and streams. Class A PGA professionals will take care of all your equipment, apparel or instruction needs. In addition, players are accompanied on-course by a Tour-class caddie.

The opening hole plays 400 yards uphill. A stream meanders down the left side and well positioned bunkers grab errant tee shots on the right. Players will find that this a great opportunity to open with a birdie attempt. Later on the front nine, the par-3 7th is a deceptive hole that can turn disastrous with the wrong club selection. A creek flows in front and to the left of the green. A mountain and bunkers on the right side of the green are troublesome with errant shots. However, if you hit the green expect a birdie.

The back nine is even more challenging than the front nine. The harsh elevation changes provide more risk/reward opportunities. For example, the par-4 14th plays 440 yards with water coming into play from tee to green. The green is situated on the other side of the stream, so many golf balls come up short if the right iron isn’t used.

One of the advantages of playing at Cascata is that there are no tee times, so you decide when your game starts. Every golfing group has its own area and due to the course’s large resort, groups will have privacy without ever interfering with someone else’s game.

The Tuscan-designed, 37,000-square-foot clubhouse is a luxurious dwelling where every need is obliged by the professional staff. The dining room is sure to fulfill tastes of all sorts. There are rare and fine cigars available in the cigar lounge’s humidor area. The golf shop is stocked with top-notch equipment and brand name apparel and accessories. Plus the men’s and women’s lounges are equipped with every form of luxury, including sink side flat screen televisions.

Cascata creates an elegant indoor or outdoor experience for large or small events. The venue can accommodate groups from 25 to 300 for private parties, business meetings, awards ceremonies, and gala dinners. The wall of doors can be opened for panoramic views of the lawn with the picturesque mountain range and cascading waterfall.

For intimate gatherings, Cascata’s private dining room with seating for six is the ideal locale. Located off the main dining area, the room offers views of the surrounding mountains and a circular table for face-to-face discussion.
