Las Vegas Attractions: Ceilings at the Venetian Hotel
The 4000-room Venetian Hotel and Casino recreates a little of Venice along the Las Vegas Strip. It has a replica of St. Mark's Square, a miniature Bridge of Sighs, and a 31,235-square foot lagoon, complete with gondolas piloted by costumed gondoliers. The mega-resort even borrows a little from other parts of Italy, with such features as the magnificent painted fresco that covers the arched the ceiling leading from the hotel's registration area to the casino. Modeled after Michelangelo's masterpiece ceiling in the Vatican's Sistine Chapel, the Venetian Hotel's ceiling is popular with those staying at the resort as well as sightseers.
