Book Colorado River Raft Tour

Most of the water in the Southwest comes from a rather unusual source. The Colorado River begins its journey in Colorado ’s Rocky Mountains where it is nothing more than a trickle. It then winds its way through three, yes three, deserts. This river has been a key factor in bringing the desert to life and furnishes water for Arizona , California , Colorado , Nevada , New Mexico and Utah . After flowing for approximately 1,470 miles, the Colorado River reaches its final destination of the Sea of Cortez in the California Gulf . The fact that the river manages to run through three deserts and still supply water to so many areas isn’t its greatest feat however. Over millions of years this river has worked its magic on the land and managed to carve out one of the most spectacular sites on Earth, the Grand Canyon . One of the most amazing sites along the Colorado River is Hoover Dam.

In order to regulate the river and ensure enough water for the Southwest areas, even during years when the river was low, several projects were put into action. Hoover Dam is one of those projects. Lake Mead which was created by the building of the dam can hold about a two year supply of water for the area. It is one of the most visited areas of Nevada and is a very popular spot for rafting, fishing, boating and camping.

The Colorado River Raft tour is a fantastic sightseeing journey covering 12 miles of the river. It begins in the gently flowing waters at the base of Hoover Dam with spectacular views. As you gently glide along the river in your raft you’ll enjoy seeing the various wildlife of the area including birds and Bighorn Sheep. And keep those cameras ready, you won’t want to miss a great shot of the beautiful waterfalls and bubbling hot springs along the way.

Next up is Willow Beach . Here guests will leave their rafts for the comfort of an air conditioned SUV and enjoy a bit of 4X4 adventure. You’ll stop at Rainbow Canyon where the breathtaking views and colors seem to bring the area to life. Before heading back to the hustle and bustle of the city the tour will stop at Hoover Dam for some photo opportunities and a chance to tour the visitor’s center.

For anyone visiting the Las Vegas area this tour is a must. In one day you will experience the natural and man made wonders of this beautiful area up close and personal. It’s sure to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
