The Golden Gate Hotel began in 1906 as Hotel Nevada. At that time it was considered a “first-class” establishment with all the finest and, in 1907 the hotel installed the first telephone in Las Vegas. The property was purchased in 1955 and soon after became the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino. Today it is known as Las Vegas’ oldest and most historic hotel and casino with almost one hundred years at the corner of Fremont and Main Streets.
