The mid 1900’s were the beginning of what came to be today’s Las Vegas . Gambling was legalized here in 1931 which began a boom that really has never ended. Within ten years developers came to the area in droves to build large hotels and casinos, creating what is now known as “The City of Lights.” The completion of the Hoover Dam in the mid 1930’s brought more water and power to this desert land along with it more and more visitors. This resulted in the bustling tourism and twinkling lights that now make up Las Vegas .

Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada . It got its name from a Spanish party who visited the area on their way west. Because of springs in some of the lower elevation areas, there were large grass fields that dotted the arid landscape. The Spaniards named the area Las Vegas , meaning “The Meadows” in Spanish.

desert climate makes up most of the greater Las Vegas area. Summer highs here reach to more than 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The lack of rain leaves valley ground dry, hard and non-absorbent which causes major flooding when heavy rains do hit the area. Surrounded by the towering Spring Mountain Range, Las Vegas is situated in a valley in the shadow of rocky peaks covered with trees and various types of rock.

On the Horseback with Dinner Ride guests will get to see a very different side of the Las Vegas area. The tour will begin with a relaxing horseback ride around the mountain just before the sun sets as the bright lights of the city disappear behind you. During the 2-hour ride you’ll enjoy the spectacular and colorful mountain views as you head for the crest of the mountain ridge. Once there you’re sure to be left breathless as the glittering lights of Las Vegas come into view.

Heading back down the mountain you’ll arrive back at the ranch for an unforgettable steak dinner. The fantastic smells and warm glow of the campfire will lead you back to the ranch where you’ll dine in true Wild West fashion, by the campfire. The dinner entertainment will be provided by serenading coyotes howling in the distance.

If you’re looking to get away from it all this is the best way to do it. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and exchange the glittering lights for the sparkling stars on the trail. You’ll be just minutes away from the city; but you’ll feel like you’re a world and many years away from everything.
