Jean, located about 30 miles south of Las Vegas, is a two-casino town just 12 miles from the California state line, at I-15’s exit 12. The town uses the slogan “Old Vegas isn’t gone…it’s just moved to exit 12.” Activity in the town centers around the two casinos: the Gold Strike Hotel and Gambling Hall and the Nevada Landing Hotel and Casino. Jean recorded just two permanent residents in the 2000 census.
