The showgirl will explain that she needs to walk up and down an average of ten flights of steps each time during the show, wearing elaborate costumes and extremely heavy headdresses. In the backstage tour, visitors are given a closer look into the hard work of caring for these costumes, ranging from incredible creations by world famous designers such as Pete Menefee, to the wonderful headdresses that look even better from close up and can weigh up to 35 pounds each.
Visitors are also given an in depth explanation of the intricate technical details involved in bringing together the set of Jubilee! The show employs two resolves, two wagons and three lifts, making it one of the most complex productions in the country, if not the world. Within this framework, showgirls need to change costumes, including headdresses and shoes, in sometimes less than 2 minutes – no easy feat!
