Jubilee! is truly a Las Vegas extravaganza, incorporating lively music, million-dollar sets and beautiful showgirls into one unforgettable experience. The ingeniously arranged musical numbers are enhanced by special effects like light, smoke and pyrotechnics, and all of these features add to the pleasing and total bombardment of the senses at Jubilee! The costumes worn by each showgirl are not to be missed either: each is a work of art on its own. Each piece of the performers’ wardrobe has been carefully designed and tailored to be eye-catching and yet support the overall theme of each number. There are ornate headdresses weighing up to 35 pounds, sequins, rhinestones, veils and sumptuous fabrics in lively colors.
The acts themselves are each amazingly developed and choreographed, where each piece of the stage setting and every dancer in costume adds to the story line. At the onset of the opening act, which is 16 minutes long, the audience is captured and enraptured, and then whisked off for an unforgettable Las Vegas experience for the remainder of the show. There is the Titanic bit, shown in three different acts, portraying first the elaborate captain’s ball, then the inner workings of the ship’s boiler room, and finally, the impending tragedy of the Titanic’s sinking. Another notable highlight is the Samson and Delilah act, where the dancers’ body language and costumes all support themes of sensuality and suggestiveness. The show’s grand finale is the jewel, however. With classic music from the likes of Cole Porter and George Gershwin, the act begins with a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and then moves into a beautiful ballroom scene.
After Jubilee! comes to an end, and the curtain is drawn again, show-goers know that they have just witnessed both a Las Vegas tradition as well as top-notch entertainment from start to finish.
