KÀ is a treat for all the senses, filled with acrobatic and martial arts action, elaborate costumes, puppetry, multimedia and pyrotechnics that blend seamlessly together to create a drama before the audience's eyes. Perhaps more than any other Cirque du Soleil show, KÀ follows a touching storyline and can be considered a true drama, as well as a work of art. KÀ tells the story of a pair of twins and their journey to experience their shared fate. Fire is a constant theme, and many references to it bring to mind the deeper theme of duality; fire is a two-faced wonder that can both create and destroy. The universal archetypes of good and evil, and of light and dark play an integral role in the storyline.

The main characters in KÀ are a boy and a girl who share the inseparable and unique bond that only twins can know. They embark together on a dangerous journey, avoiding pitfalls and perils all along their way, and traversing through landscapes that represent the four ancient elements of Water, Air, Earth and Fire.
Creator and director Robert Lepage says of the show, "I've worked on rock shows and things that have been quite bit, but never anything as big as this." This statement comes from a renowned and talented director who has worked on theatre and opera productions, and feature films, as well as concert arrangements for singer Peter Gabriel. Overall, the spectacle had a budget of $165 million.
Costume designer Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt had a significant role in creating the visual effect of the characters themselves on the audience; drawing on her backgrounds in fashion, dance and theatre, she successfully designed the outer garments to represent the inner state and symbolism of each of the characters.
The music for KÀ is an original score by Rene Dupere which takes the audience for an auditory adventure that matches the visual spectacle onstage. Just as the drama unfolds and travels through many moods and intensities, so does the music. Some of the names of the numbers hint at the powerful, subtle and story-telling qualities of music: "Archer's Den," "Dance of the Magic Flute," "O Makunde," "Parting of the Twins," "The Forest," and "The Storm."
