Las Vegas Convention Center

Situated on the famous Paradise Road in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Las Vegas Convention Center sprawls over 3.2-million feet and is considered by many to be one of the most modern and advanced convention and exhibition centers in the world. More than anything, the Convention Center is known for its versatility and its ability to cater for exhibitions, meetings and conventions on almost any size scale, immaterial of the space needed, the number of guests or special features required. The Center is run by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), which deals with marketing, promotion and other administrative issues. It's also a convenient stop on the Las Vegas Monorail system.

History

The Las Vegas Convention Center was constructed in 1959 and initially covered a modest 110,350 square feet. This number was increased to almost 2 million square feet when a major expansion of the facility took place in 1998. In 2004, a new expansion, which incorporated the South Hall, added another 1.3-million square feet to the facility, which was now linked by four bridges. Since 2005, new plans have been proposed and approved to create major changes and additions to the Convention Center. Future plans include a police station, enclosed access to the monorail station and extra floor space.
