Logistics
McCarran Airport is conveniently located 2km from the Las Vegas Strip, making it accessible by any form of transport.
Taxis: Several taxi companies service McCarran Airport and cabs are located outside Exit 1 and Exit 5 on the east side of the baggage claim area. Airport personnel are present on the taxi curbs in order to assist arriving and departing voyageurs. Taxis require a $1.20 charge on all rides leaving the airport complex and do not accept credit cards. It should also be noted that there is a 5-person limit (including children and babies) allowed per taxi.
Public Transport: CAT bus services run from the airport to downtown / central Las Vegas via routes 108 and 109. A number of shuttle services and limousines are also available from the north and west sides of the airport, outside of Exit 8-14. These shuttles serve both inner-city rides and further destinations.
Car Rental: Car rental facilities are available from within the airport in the baggage claim area. Various off-airport car rental companies are contactable by a free telephone service. Car rental companies will offer a courtesy shuttle service to and from the airport terminal to the car rental area within the airport .
Parking
McCarran Airport offers several parking options for those travelers arriving and leaving with their own vehicle. As part of McCarran's aspiration towards top-class service, all the parking lots are patrolled 24/7 by a uniformed bikers who will be on hand to answer general queries, as well as assist with car trouble.
Short Term Garage: Two short term parking garages are located on Level 2M and Level 1. Short term parking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours, while handicapped spaces are limited to four hours. Parking is payable in advance with parking meters, which only accepts quarters. Change machines are located in the parking areas.
Long Term Garage: Long term parking facilities are demarcated with a green triangle and are located on Level 1M, 2M, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Payment is made upon exit at a toll booth = $3 for the first hour, $1 per hour thereafter. A daily maximum rate is $12 (with a 30 day max period). All major credit cards are accepted as forms of payment for long term parking.
Valet Parking: Valet parking is demarcated by a red triangle and situated on Level 2 of the public parking garage. This service is available 24/7 and costs $6 minimum, with $1 per additional hour. A daily charge cap is $16.
Passenger Pick Up: The passenger pick up area is located across from the pedestrian bridge which exits the baggage claim section. Cars may not park in this area and it is designated for immediate pick up of passengers only.
Passenger Drop Off: The drop off area at McCarran's is located outside the Departures building. Only immediate drop off of passengers is allowed and unattended vehicles will be heavily fined.
Economy Parking: McCarran Airport recently opened an economy parking lot which caters for short and long stay vehicles at a lower fee, and is serviced by a shuttle to and from the main airport buildings. Travelers using the economy parking facilities should add an extra 30 minutes onto their travel time.
