History
Mesquite, until quite recently, was just a coffee stop on the way from Las Vegas to other vacation destinations, little more than a wide spot in the road. In the last ten years, however, the population has increased ten fold and the area has become a destination in itself, albeit a quieter, more staid one than some of its rowdy cousins.

Mesquite Resorts
Mesquite is home to four casino resorts, including the lavish CasaBlanca Resort, Casino, Golf, and Spa. This 500-room resort has its own 18-hole golf course, a wedding gazebo, a luxurious spa, and, of course, a large casino. The Oasis, the city's largest resort, boasts 1000 rooms; a gun club with trap, skeet, and sporting fields; an 18-hole and a 9-hole golf course; and a casino featuring 800 slot machines and free slot, poker, and blackjack tournaments. The Virgin River Resort has 750 rooms, an RV park, a movie theater, bowling lanes, and one of the longest bars in the world.

Just Outside of Mesquite
Mesquite makes an ideal base for exploring the region's many scenic canyons. Among the most popular are Cabin, Elbow, White Rock, and Seeps Canyons. Many more canyons await in Utah, just a short drive away.

Other Attractions
In addition to the facilities offered by the casinos, Mesquite has two other golf courses, numerous restaurants, four movie theaters, and a rodeo-style arena. Also popular is the Dessert Valley Museum, which features artifacts and history of the region, including the first five slot machines installed in Mesquite in 1936.
