Opening in 1987, Painted Desert Golf Course is one of the first Las Vegas desert-style courses. Designed by Jay Morrish, the course not only offers a challenging round of golf, but the exceptional desert scenery adds to the experience. Lush greenways, greens and roughs as well as cactus and mesquite make the Painted Desert visually striking. Throughout the years, Painted Desert has offered visitors an affordable and memorable Vegas golfing outing. During the week, green fees are approximately $80 in peak season.
The full service clubhouse is an inviting abode to relax in before or after an exhilarating round. Stop by the large, circular bar for drinks or to unwind after a round of golf. Other amenities include a fully stocked pro shop and practice facility staffed by PGA professionals. Painted Desert can also accommodate corporate events and tournaments.
Painted Desert is known for its soft and mature greens, tight fairways, and variety of challenging holes. The 18-hole course requires players to be as accurate as possible. Large bushes that surround tee boxes will engulf your ball on errant shots. In addition, several lakes and bunkers come into play on drives and approach shots. Four of the par-5 holes measure more than 500 yards. Shorter par-3 holes, ranging from 128 to 193 yards also require near-perfect accuracy.
One of the course’s most challenging holes is the 193-yard, par-3 8 th hole. The tee shot plays to a sloping green that is protected by water front and left and bunkers back. The closer is the 410-yard par-4 18 th. The elevated green slopes dramatically and is surrounded by bunkers. If you want to enjoy first-class golf at a picturesque desert golf course, Painted Desert Golf Club should be at the top of your list.
