Some of the best views in Southern Nevada lay just 15 miles west of downtown Las Vegas in Red Rock Canyon . Red colored sandstone inspired the area’s name and can be seen from almost anywhere in Las Vegas . The north part of the Canyon is where you will find the Bureau of Land Management Scenic Drive and Visitor Center . The eastern boundary is made up of low hills that are collectively called Blue Diamond Hill. The southern part of the valley is comprised of Blue Diamond which is an old mining community.

To the west of Red Rock Canyon are the Wilson Cliffs where you will have ample photo opportunities as Bridge Point, Bridge Mountain , Rainbow Mountain , Mount Wilson, Indecision Peak and Sandstone Mountain rise up before you. Who knows, you may even see mustangs and burros as they roam freely through the valley of the canyon. Other photo opportunities that you will have along this tour include ancient Indian petroglyphs, pictographs and Agave roasting pits as well as beautiful desert springs.

You will also visit Spring Mountain Ranch State Park . This 520-acre was once a working ranch and luxury retreat. Spring Mountain Ranch is rich with history that dates back to 1830’s. Some of the buildings on this property have the distinction of being the second oldest buildings in the Las Vegas area.
