The history of this amazing hotel is a true rags to riches story. Arriving in town with no more than $80 in his pocket, Sam Boyd worked his way to the top of the ladder. Several years later, his son joined him in the hotel and gaming business and they then created The California Hotel & Casino and Sam’s Town which was the beginning of the Boulder Strip.
