Silverstone Golf Club is a fairly new golfing attraction that claims to provide the best value for the golfing dollar. Designed by Golf World's first "Golf Course Architect of the Year," Robert Cupp, all of the 27 championship holes are surrounded by booming palm trees, gleaming water features, and panoramic views of the area’s mountains.
The three nines, Valley, Desert and Mountain, present a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. Each course plays 7,000 yards and feature rye grass fairways and roughs and bentgrass greens. There are six Par 5 holes that average 590 yards from the tips, and another four holes that measure over 600 yards.
The Valley course is rated the easiest of all three. Hole No. 1 is a 631-yard, par 5. The second hole is a 162-yard, par 3 over water to a small green. The Desert course features medium to long par-4 holes with spacious landing areas and open greens. The par 3's measure 201 and 211 yards with a safe landing area. Hole No. 1 is a dogleg-right, 535-yard par 5. The Mountain course is the most challenging of the three courses and offers a variety in its five par 4's, two par 3's and two par 5's. Hole No. 3, a par 5 at a length of 653 yards, is the longest hole in Nevada . A patio overlooks a 28th hole, appropriately named the “Decider Hole,” that is used by guests to settle all bets. Overall, golfers will appreciate the fact that Silverstone is a straightforward, no tricks type of course. Any potential problems are visible to the player. However, keep in mind that wayward shots will be punished and there are small and undulated greens. The level of difficulty also increases when the wind is blowing.
Players, experienced and beginners, can also visit Silverstone to enhance their game techniques. Silverstone Golf Academy is a 2,800 square feet learning center that includes a state-of-the-art practice facility featuring a driving range, putting green, and short game areas.
In addition to offering a five-star golfing experience, the award-winning clubhouse offers an abundance of amenities away from the course. The 34,000 square feet Mediterranean Villa Design clubhouse features panoramic views of the lush golf course, Sheepherder’s Mountain, and the Las Vegas skyline.
