The first is the Borg Invasion 4D, which incorporates real actors with state of the art technology to bring visitors an experience that is as close to the real thing as possible. While visiting a research plant, the facility is ‘attacked’ by BORGs who attempt to assimilate participants. This ride uses tens of thousands of sound watts, 10 types of special effects and exciting 3D film to ensure that visitors enjoy an experience that incorporates all the senses.
The other ride is the Klingon Encounter which has visitors beamed onto the classic Enterprise Spaceship as it is being attacked by a Klingon warship. Again, superb sound and audio technology make this a much sought-after form of entertainment.
For those wishing for a respite from all the action offered by these exciting rides, nothing beats a visit to Quark’s Bar and Restaurant, a themed eatery where diners can order futuristic drinks and food that are sure to tickle their taste buds. Visitors can try exotic sounding drinks such as the ‘Warp Core Breach’ or ‘Systems Overload’, among many others. From its plasma-plated wall to a life sized space ship hovering overhead, visitors will feel as if they are truly eating in a 24 th century diner.
Star Trek: The Experience is a shopper’s paradise. Visitors can stroll down the Shopper’s Promenade to find anything Trekkie related for themselves or that special person in their lives. From plush toys to clothing, from Trek dolls to stationery, there is something for everyone at these stores, which hold the largest collection of Star Trek memorabilia and collectibles in the world. Another thing that visitors may want to consider taking home is a souvenir photograph. For a nominal fee, visitors can have a photograph taken in the captain’s chair or in a BORG regeneration chamber. What better way to remember such an exciting excursion!
Finally, visitors can join the Secrets Unveiled Tour, which takes them on a breathtaking behind-the-scenes look at how the effects offered in the two rides really work.
Star Trek: The Experience is situated in the Hilton Las Vegas complex. It is open daily from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm, with the first rides beginning at 12 noon.
