Stateline boasts 6 casinos, four of which are resorts. The Mont Bleu Resort Casino and Spa opened in 1978 and was known as the Park Tahoe. This resort features a 40,000 square foot casino and 440 hotel rooms. Harrah’s Lake Tahoe opened in 1955 and now has expanded to include an 18-storey tower, 525 rooms and a 65,000 square foot casino. The Horizon Casino Hotel opened as the Sahara Tahoe in 1965 and its claim to fame is the fact that Elvis Presley performed there from 1971-1976.
Harvey’s Lake Tahoe is the largest of the four resorts with 740 rooms and suites, 6 restaurants and 87,500 square feet of casino space. The resort also has a swimming pool, wedding chapel, heath spa and convention center. Harvey’s was first opened in 1944 and was continuously improved and renovated until it became today’s expansive resort. Two other smaller casinos – The Lakeside and Bill’s are geared towards the locals and smaller gamblers.
Besides for the casinos, the major attraction to Stateline is its proximity to Lake Tahoe. The lake is a stunning mass of freshwater between Nevada and California. The area features a number of ski resorts and outdoor adventure recreation facilities. During the winter seasons the slopes of mountains surround the lake are filled with avid skiers who have come to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and panoramic beauty. During the summer, the lake converts to a Mecca for water sport lovers. Boating is the major water sport on the lake which includes racing, water skiing and jet skiing.
Hundreds of trails around the lake serve as ample facilities for hikers and mountain bikers. The scenery to be beheld from the mountain peaks of the plummeting valley and lake resting at the bottom is unforgettable. One of the most popular trails is Tahoe Rim Trail which follows the lake around through the mountains. Other attractions for nature lovers are Desolation Wilderness and Eagle Lake Trailhead.
Stateline offers a complete holiday destination for both nature lovers and resort lovers. Why not create a combination holiday by enjoying a few days by the lake with its spectacular natural surroundings, and then pamper yourself at one of Stateline’s top resorts.
