While many people wouldn’t necessarily associate the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas with fine art, it is refreshing to find an art gallery that provides access to some of the world’s top art right in the heart of the city, in the form of the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. Situated in the beautiful and luxurious Bellagio Hotel & Casino, across from the pool entrance, the Bellagio Gallery is considered Las Vegas’ premier art location and offers a welcome respite from the action-packed Strip.
In global standards, the Bellagio Gallery is not very big – around 1,600 square feet in total – but this seems just enough space for visitors to appreciate the 30-50 rotating pieces of art on display.
One of the main drawcards to the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is that its directors bring together an exquisite collection of priceless art each year in one magnificent temporary exhibition. Visitors thus have a chance to see up close, in a small and intimate setting, some of the world’s most beautiful pieces of art that they may only have been able to catch a glimpse of in some of the top museums across the globe. Works by Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, Andy Warhol and the house of Faberge have all been displayed at the Bellagio Gallery at one time or another. Works by photographers such as Ansel Adams have also been shown.
Since its opening in 1998 by art collector Steve Wynn, thousands of impressed visitors have passed through the doors of this gallery. While it is open to the general public on a regular basis, private tours can also be arranged for group visits such as birthday celebrations or convention excursions. The Gallery is flexible with its arrangements and can even organize cocktail parties or lectures amidst the beautiful art.
For visitors wanting to take home a little piece of the Bellagio magic, they are sure to find something at the gallery store. Situated directly adjacent to the gallery itself, the store offers a wide range of products including books, stationery and other souvenirs. Visitors can pick out the perfect gift for that special someone in their lives by browsing through the store’s collection of unique and limited-edition items in the line of jewelry and fine prints.
The Bellagio Gallery offers a special annual membership program that allows unlimited access for an attractive price. In general, both the gallery and store are open from Sunday to Thursday from 10 am – 6 pm, with the last visitor being admitted at 5:30 pm. On weekends (Friday and Saturday) the museum remains open until 9 pm, with the last person allowed in at 8:30 pm. There are daily docent tours at 2 pm. Admittance fees vary for students to general entry. Visitors also have access to an audio tour that is included in the price of the ticket.
