Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe and southern shore of Washoe Lake, Carson City is the capital of Nevada. Transportation

Running through the southern tip of Nevada, Interstate 15 connects the Las Vegas metropolitan area with California and Utah. This highway also branches off into I-515 and I-215 near the Las Vegas Strip. Interstate 80 is the busiest highway in the northern part of the state. This highway connects Reno with several large cities in neighbouring states, such as Sacramento and Salt Lake City. Spanning more than 640 miles, U.S. Route 95 accommodates traffic between Las Vegas and Reno. Considered a regional highway, Interstate 580 directly connects Carson City and Reno. Located in Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport (LAS) is the busiest commercial airport in Nevada. This airport is an important hub for several domestic low-cost carriers, such as Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines. Located just outside of the city's downtown district, Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is the state's second busiest airport. This regional airport offers direct flights to more than a dozen domestic destinations. A direct flight from RNO to LAS normally takes approximately one hour. Located in the state's capital, Carson Airport is primarily used for general aviation.
